General introduction  
Occupational Therapists work with people who have physical, emotional or social problems and use activities in order to help them reach their maximum level of function and independence. the patients'/clients' participation and co-operation are of prime imporatance throughout the therapy process.
Programme details  
During the programme you will develop an in-depth understanding of humans as occupational beings. Emphasis is placed on the core skills of functional performance, identification of client needs, development of appropriate intervention strategies and clinical research. Graduates of the programme will be eligible for membership of the College of Occupational Therapists and also for registration with the Health Professions Council. To get the most from the programme, you must be able to develop excellentcommunication skills and enjoy working constructively with people from all walks of life. You will develop the ability to problem solve, use judgement and skill in organisation and learning. the BSc and State Registration currently enable you to undertake the BSC Hons Occupational therapy with Psychology; BSc Hons Occupational Therapy with Sociology; BSc Hons Occupational Therapy with Health Ergonomics.
Within this programme, you will undertake practice educationat each level of the programme. You may be required to take these outside the Glasgow area as required.
Diverse career opportunities exist in hospitals, clinics and a wide variety of community health and social care settings in the UK and abroad. Graduates of this programme also have been innovative in developing career opportunities in areas of practice new to the profession with voluntary and private sector employers.
